About Us
– Who we are
When a client takes that first step to making that call to us – Just one hand reaching out to another outstretched hand. We ensure everything we do honors that connection. From our commitment to the way we engage with our service users and communities to work ethically and responsibly.
Established
The service was set up in 2006 by Ayesha Aslam, an individual who wanted to make a difference to the community as a whole. However, the word spread and Ayesha became inundated with Muslim clients and she wanted to help every single one. It was time to recruit Muslim counsellors who would be trained and supervised to deliver high level of service that would take into consideration of one’s faith and cultural values at the same time.
First steps
Ayesha developed her skills further and became a clinical supervisor as she needed to train professionally qualified counsellors in incorporating Islamic principles in the counselling field. She developed her Counselling model and supervision. Today she provides supervision not only to Sakoon Muslim counsellors but to Organisations, Muslim Chaplains and external counsellors.
We would like to thank the service users who have praised our services and continue to refer people to us.
